Add the African flower granny square in your granny squares collection using this simple step by step instructions.
Granny squares are by far the easiest way to make a big project without feeling exhausted because you can make them in stages. After learning the classic granny square and you feel the desire to learn other squares, then this African flower granny square is right for you.
With the classic African flower granny square having at least 6 rounds, you can add an extra round between the first and second round to make it slightly bigger. I will name this round as optional round in the pattern below.

What you need.
- Yarn. you can use any yarn that you have lying around to learn the square before committing to a project. In the pattern I used a light weight yarn but fell free to use a worsted yarn or any yarn weight.
- crochet hook. I used a 4mm crochet hook with the light weight yarn.
- Pair of scissors & darning needle.
