The drunken granny stitch is a fun and lovely stitch to switch up with the traditional granny stitch.
I personally love the drunken granny stitch because it gives an airy lacy feel. It can work perfectly on summer outfits, shawls and lace scarves.
The drunken granny stitch also have only one row repeat making it easy to work on even by an absolute beginner. once you master the first 3 rows, then all others are just walk over.

Notes.
- The foundation chains are multiples of 5 + 4.
- The chain 3 at the beginning of a new row counts as a stitch (the first double crochet stitch)
- The pattern is written in US Terms.
- The stitch is only 1 row repeat after rows 1 & 2.

Chain any multiple of 5 (i.e, 10,15,20,25,30,35,,,,,) then add 4 more chains to your multiples.
I started with 34 chains.
Row 1.
step 1,
skip 5 chains (this acts as a dc + chain 2), then place 3 dc, chain 2 and 1 dc in the 6th chain.
step 2,
skip 4 chains, [3 dc, chain 2, 1 dc ] all in the next chain (see arrow in pic above)
repeat step 2 until you have 3 chains remaining.
step 3,
skip 2 chains, dc in the last chain. Turn to Row 2.
Row 2.
step 4,
Chain 3, [3 dc, chain 2, 1 dc] in the next chain-2-space,
step 5,
[3 dc, chain 2, 1 dc ] in the next chain-2-space, and each chain-2-space until the last space.
step 6,
dc in the 5th chain of the 5 chains. turn to row 3
Row 3.
step 7
Chain 3, [3 dc, chain 2, 1 dc] in the next chain-2-space,
step 8,
[3 dc, chain 2, 1 dc ] in the next chain-2-space, and each chain-2-space until the last space.
