The daisy granny square is such a fun and easy crochet square. In this pattern, I will show you how to make the daisy granny square step by step with plenty pictures to guide.

It looks a little intricate but you will only need to know the double crochet, 3 double crochet puff stitch and the slip stitch. These are also explained in the pattern so no worries if you have no prior knowledge.

Materials
Yarn
- Aran yarn.
- You can however use any yarn you have around.
Hooks
- 5.0 mm crochet hook. If you used a different yarn, use the recommended hook size on the yarn label.

Abbreviations/Stitches Utilized
st – stitch Ch – chain
dc – double crochet rep – repeat
Sl st – slip stitch sk – skip
sdc – standing double crochet sp – space
Rem – remain Yo – yarn over
Tr – treble crochet
3dctog – 3 double crochet together.
Gauge
5 rows of the daisy square measure 5.25” on both sides.
Notes.
- The square is made in rounds, working on the right side at all time. There is no turning.
- The pattern uses US TERMS.
- Parts of the pattern is written in shorthand, {i.e 3dc, 3dc, means, place 3dc in one space, then 3dc in the next space.}
- The first and second round are worked in circle then turned to square in the third round.
- Ch 3 at the beginning of a new round counts as a double crochet.
- The square is made in 3 colors. Mustard Yellow for the centre, white for the petals then you can choose any color for the square part.
- The colors used as indicated as color 1(seed), color 2 (for petals),color 3 (outer square)
- Repeat instructions after the asterisk ** as stated in the pattern.
Measurements.
Finished square measures 5.25” x 5.25” after blocking.
Stitch Explanation.
Slip stitch {slst}: insert hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull through both the stitch and the loop on hook.
Treble crochet {tr}: yarn over twice, insert hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch (4 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook) yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops.
Standing treble crochet {str}: make a slip knot and insert hook, yarn over twice, insert hook in the first stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch (4 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through the first 2, yo, pull through the nxt 2, yo pull through the last 2. t
Double crochet {dc}: yarn over, insert hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook),yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops.
3dctog / 3 dc puff st: yo, insert hook in the stated st/sp, yo, pull through st (3 loops), yo, pull through 2 loops, [yo, insert hook in the same st/sp, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through 2 loops] repeat instructions in [] once more, (4 loops)yo, pull through the 4 loops.
Granny stitch: 3 double crochet in the same space. Sometimes written as 3dc cluster.
Standing double crochet : make a slip knot, yarn over, insert hook in the space specified, yarn over and draw a loop, yarn over draw through 2 loops, yarn over draw through the last 2 loops.
Crochet Daisy granny square pattern.
Start with a Magic ring.
Round 1. (Use Color 1)
Ch 3 {first dc}, 11 dc in the magic ring.
Join the round with a sl st in the 3rd chain to close round.
Ch 1 & cut yarn. (12 sts)
Round 2. (with color 2)
Make a slip knot, then yo, insert hook in the first st, yo & pull through [3 loops], yo pull through the first 2 loops, **yo, insert hook in the same st, yo& pull through, yo, pull through 2 loops, rep from ** once more (4 loops) Yo, pull through all the 4 loops, Ch 2.
{3dctog in the next st, ch 2} repeat instructions in {} to the end of round. Join with a sl st to the first st, ch 1 & cut yarn.
Round 3.
Attach color 3 yarn in any ch 2 pace with a sdc, 2dc in the same space,
{3tr, ch2, 3tr} in next sp,
**3dc in each of the next 2 spaces, {3tr, ch 2, 3tr} in next space
Repeat from ** until only 1 space remains.
3dc in the last sp, join with sl st to first st.
Round 4.
Ch 3,
3 dc in next space[after the 3dc cluster],
{3dc, ch 2, 3dc} in the next ch 2 sp,
**[3dc in next sp]x2 {3dc, ch 2, 3dc} in the ch 2 sp.
Repeat from ** to last ch 2 sp, 3dc in next sp, 2dc in last sp [with the first ch 3]
Close the square with an invisible join.

At the end of last round, cut yarn leaving about 6” of length, pull it through the last stitch.
Step 1.
Insert yarn in a needle, Skip the ch 3, insert the needle in the 2nd stitch from back to front,
Step 2.
Insert the needle in the front loop & the front leg of the last st.
Step 3.
Insert the needle in the first st (3rd chain) from front to back. Then weave in the tail at the back
