Notes
- The sizing guide follows size XS&S(M&L, XL&2XL, 3XL&4XL). Where “Chain 70,74,78,82) means Ch 70 for XS&S, Ch 74 for M&L, Ch 78 for XL&2XL, Ch 82 for 3XL&4XL.” If there is only one number, it applies to all sizes.
- Repeat instructions between asterisk (**) as stated in the following statement.
- This poncho is worked in the round and in one piece, starting with the neck ribbing, then the granny stitches.
- The granny stitch used is 2dc in each space. Not 3dc.
- Ch2 at the start of a new row doesn’t count as a stitch.
- In the pattern, I used 5 colors, but you can use any number of colors depending on your preferences.
- From Round 2 of main body, the 2dc stitches are worked in between previous 2dc clusters.
PATTERN
Neck ribbing.
With main color,
Chain 70(74,78,82), join to the first chain with a slst .
Round 1.
Ch2(doesn’t count as a stitch), dc in each chain to the end of round. Join to first st with a slst. 70(74,78,82)
Round 2.

I made 18 rounds for the Adult version.
Round 19.
Ch4 (counts as dc+ch1), *dc nxt st, ch1* repeat to the end of round, join it to the 3rd chain of first st. Ch1 and cut yarn. 70(74,78,82)
Body.
Round 1.
With your Color 1
Attach yarn with a standing dc in the first ch1 space, {dc, ch2, 2dc same space,} *2dc in the next ch1sp* repeat this in the next 34(36,38,40,42) ch 1 spaces, ( 2dc, ch2, 2dc next ch1sp) {2nd increase made,} 2dc in each of the remaining ch1 spaces, join to first st with a slst, slst in the nxt st and the ch2sp.
Round 2.
Ch3, {dc,ch2, 2dc} in same space, *2dc in the next space* repeat this to the next ch2sp, {2dc, ch2, 2dc in the ch2sp) continue with pattern in * to the end of round, join it to first st with a slst, slst in next st and the ch2sp.
Repeat prev round, two more times,ch1 and cut yarn. Then change to contrast color.
Note: if you are working in only one color, just repeat round 2 until desired length is achieved.
Round 5.
With contrast color{white}, attach yarn with a standing dc in the ch2 space (where you bind off prev color), dc, ch2, 2dc in the same sp, *2dc in the next space (between the dc clusters)* repeat this to the end of round, join it to first st with a slst, slst in nxt st and the ch2sp.
Round 6.
Ch3, {dc, ch2, 2dc} in same space, *2dc in the next space (between the dc clusters)* repeat this to the end of round, join it to first st with a slst, slst in nxt st and the ch2sp.
Continue with pattern, changing color after every 6 rounds { 4 rounds of chosen color, 2 rounds of contrast color), until you have desired length of poncho.
Adding Tassels.
Cut 8″ strands, and pick 6 strands, fold in half then attach them in the bottom spaces between the 2dc stitches.
Insert hook from the right side to wrong side of one space between the 2dc cluster, grab the tassels at the center fold, pull through the space, insert fingers in the center fold and grab the tails and pull through to tighten the tassel. repeat this for each space. Trim as desired at the end.
