If you love the houndstooth stitch but you are intimidated by all the loose ends when working with it, then this crochet houndstooth sweater is for you. It does not have multiple ends and you do not carry yarn when working. this means, less yarn and ease of work.
Sweaters are my favorite projects to work with. This however is a first in its category. It is the first sweater I’ve designed with not only a neck ribbing but double ribbed collar.
Understanding the Houndstooth Pattern.
Houndstooth is a distinctive two-color pattern characterized by its geometric, broken checks. This pattern has stood the test of time, gracing various fashion trends throughout history. Traditionally found in woven fabrics, houndstooth can be beautifully recreated through crochet stitches, resulting in a stunning textured design. Although traditionally it was just in black and white hues, the houndstooth stitch has evolved and we can see it several color blends.
If you would like to learn the stitch first before working on this crochet houndstooth sweater then check this crochet houndstooth stitch. However, if you decide to use one color of yarn, you will be making the griddle stitch.
One of the many reasons i love this crochet houndstooth sweater is the fact that it has two sides. You can choose to wear it on any side. You will find that one side is Color 1 dominant while the other is color 2 dominant. so the choice is yours.
