Also known as the chevron linen stitch, the wave moss stitch is a fun and beautiful stitch that works well on blankets, scarves, shawls and many other projects. It only uses the single crochet stitch and the chain stitch. This makes it easier even for a beginner.
To achieve the wavy or chevron look, we are going to decrease some stitches and increase in some areas. If you already know how to make the moss stitch, learning this will be so refreshing and easy.

Notes.
- The pattern is written in US terminology.
- The chain 1 at the end of every row does not count as a stitch.
- The foundation chain is a multiple of 19 stitches plus 18 stitches.
- Repeat instructions within the asterisk *–*.
Materials.
- Medium weight yarn. I use acrylic yarn for this pattern.
- 5mm crochet hook
- Pair of scissors
- Yarn needle.
Abbreviations / Stitches used.(US)
Ch: chain sk: skip
Sc: single crochet. Fc: foundation chain(s)
Yo: yarn over sc2tog: single crochet 2 together
ch-1 sp: chain 1 space
Crochet Wave Moss Stitch Pattern.
Start by chaining any multiple of 19sts(e.g. 19, 38, 57…) then add 18 stitches to your number[for example, 19+18 or 38+18, or 57+18…]. This tutorial starts with 56 chains. (38+18)
Row 1.
step 1: sc in the 2nd chain from hook
step 2: chain 1, skip next chain, sc in the next chain.
step 3: repeat step 2, 2 more times. (you should have 4 sc sts & 3 ch-1 spaces)
step 4: chain 1, skip next chain, {sc, chain 2, sc } in the next chain. (tip / rise)
step 5: chain 1, skip next chain, sc in the next chain.
step 6 : repeat step 5, 3 more times.
step 7: skip 2 chains {dip} sc in the next chain
step 8: repeat step 2 to step 7 until the end of row 1. Ending your row on step 6 instructions. Ch 1 & turn
Row 2.
step 9: sc2 tog {in the first sc st and the ch-1 sp} insert hook in the first st and pull up a loop [you should have 2 loops on your hook] insert hook in the next ch-1 space and pull up a loop [3 loops on hook],
yarn over and pull through all the 3 loops.
step 10: chain 1, skip next sc stitch, sc in next ch-1 space.
step 11: repeat step 10, 2 more times.
step 12: chain 1, skip next sc stitch, {sc, chain 2, sc } in the next chain 2 space. (tip / rise)
step 13: chain 1, skip next sc stitch, sc in the next ch-1 space.
step 14 : repeat step 13, 3 more times.
step 15: skip the next 2 stitches {dip}, sc in the next ch-1 space
step 16: repeat step 10 to step 15 until you have a [sc, chain 1 space, sc ] sts remaining.
step 17: chain 1, skip next sc stitch, sc2tog {in the ch-1 sp and the last sc st } insert hook in the ch-1 sp and pull up a loop [you should have 2 loops on your hook] insert hook in the last sc stitch and pull up a loop [3 loops on hook], yarn over and pull through all the 3 loops. ch 1 & turn.
repeat row 2, until you finish your project.
