The crochet larksfoot stitch is a fancy stitch pattern that uses at least to colors. It is a modified granny stitch so if you know how to make granny stitch in rows, then this will be easy.
If you love working with colors like me, then I bet you will enjoy learning the larksfoot stitch. It requires basic knowledge of the crochet basic stitches and therefore is classified as an intermediate stitch pattern. However, it is easy and you only need the knowledge of how to make the chain stitch and the double crochet stitch.

The Larksfoot Stitch
Chain any multiple of 4 sts i.e, {4,8,12,16,20,24,32,36,} then add 1 chain at the end.
For this tutorial, I started with 25 chains.
Row 1.
sk 3 chains {these will act as the 1st dc} dc in the 4th chain from hook and the next chain,
step 2,
ch 1, skip the next chain,
dc in next 3 chains,
repeat step 2 to the end of row 1. Turn
Row 2.
chain 3, dc in next 2 sts,
*ch1, skip the ch-1 sp, dc in next 3 sts,
rep the previous step until you reach the last stitch, then change color,
to change color, (in last st, when you have 2 loops remaining on hook, drop current color & pick new color, yo & pull through last 2 sts.) Turn
Note: do not cut your previous yarn if working with only 2 colors. If working with multiple colors, you will cut yarn after every 2 rows, leaving enough tail to weave in at the end.
Row 3.
ch4 {dc + ch1},
skip the next st, dc in next st,
dc in the ch-1 sp 2 rows below (also referred to as spike stitch),
dc in the next st,
ch 1, skip the next st, dc in the next st, spike st in ch-1 sp 2 rows below, dc next st,
rep previous step until 2 sts remain,
ch 1, skip the next st, dc in the turning chain. Turn
Row 4.
ch4 {dc + ch1},
*sk the ch-1 sp, dc in nxt 3 sts,
{ch 1, skip the ch-1-sp, dc in the next 3 sts} repeat pattern in {} until only the ch 4 remains.
ch1, skip 1 chain, dc in the 3rd ch of the turning chain, then change color by picking previous yarn from row 2. Turn
Row 5.
Ch 3, *dc in the ch-1 sp 2 rows below,
dc in next st,
ch 1, skip the next st, dc in next st, dc in the ch-1 sp 2 rows below, dc in next st
rep the previous step until you reach the last ch-1 sp,
dc in the ch-1 space 2 rows below, the dc in the turning chain. turn
Row 6.
ch 3, dc in next 2 sts,
{ch 1, skip the ch-1 sp, dc in the next 3 sts} repeat the pattern in {} to end of row, then change to next color. turn
repeat rows 3,4,5,6 until you reach the end of your project or until you master the stitch pattern.
Finishing your work.
At the end of your rows, ch 1 and cut yarn leaving about 5 inches of tail. Using a darning needle, weave in all the tails at the back of your fabric. You can choose to ad border or leave as is.
